“Achieving Your Potential in Transportation ”

The National Forum for Transportation Skills was formed in 2007 from the originally established Transportation Vocational Group (TVG). The purpose of the name change was that since the launch of TVG in the mid 90,s the role and function of the organisation had significantly changed.
The adoption of a new name more appropriately reflected the wider transportation sector and more importantly the people working within it. The aim of NFTS is to bring together the principle and major representative bodies and organisations within the sector including employers and the professional bodies to provide guidance and support for the education, training and qualification of all transportation practitioners.
To join with the regulators, clients and employers to work towards achieving a fully qualified and competent transportation workforce. The development and subsequent promotion of the various qualifications and awards that exist within the sector is a vital part of NFTS’s purpose. These awards and qualifications range from vocational awards, National Occupational Standards (NVQ’s), through to academic and professional qualifications. From its inception as TVG, and now as NFTS it has four principal partners and sponsors.
In addition to representatives from these bodies the forum has membership from Road Safety Officers, Transport Planners and major employers from both the public and private sector
