Phil Moore – Chairman of NFTS.
You will see elsewhere the history associated with the NVQ’s and particularly the NFTS. I am very pleased to say that I served under the founding chairman of the IHT steering group, Rob Deacon in the early 90’s and was instrumental in facilitating a substantial element of the research undertaken by Ward and Robertson, which the industry is some 15-year later indebted.
Following this I represented the road safety profession on the TVG under the chairmanship of Mike Kendrick who through his own style and approach firmly established the vocational qualifications, into what was a very well established profession, principally civil engineering.
My particular background is in road safety education and traffic design, and given that background it is no surprise to see why I am passionate in the area of education and particularly the “competency” of individuals.
After spending 28 years in the transportation/highways sector, where I established and managed a very successful road safety and traffic department in an East London authority, I now find myself heading the Highways and Parking services in Medway Unitary authority.
I was very pleased to be approached in 2006 to take over the chairmanship of the NFTS and I am committed to making vocational qualifications nationally recognised in our field and ensure that, no matter where you find yourself within the supply chain, there will be a vocational qualification for you.
