“Achieving Your Potential in Transportation ”
There are a considerable number of people from a diversity of backgrounds, skills and educational pathways working in the transportation sector. Transport in all its forms plays a vital part in the life of any community. It is key to the economic viability and environmental sustainability and growth of our society’s. It follows that in order to develop this critical aspect of our modern society we need to provide those who work within it a fundamental framework of competence and knowledge:
- A structured process that will enable individuals to develop their knowledge and skill within their chose field
- A structured process that has a set of standards. developed by the sector.
- A set of standards that combines the technical, financial, management and an appreciation of the needs of the society it operates within.
All of these performance requirements for today’s transportation professional are found within the National Transportation Qualification.
In a major development programme for its staff Transport for London used as a framework for functional assessment of its staff the NTQ standards. In the course of this substantial project training courses were developed using the knowledge and competence aspects of these standards
Major transportation clients are increasingly demanding that their providers have appropriately qualified staff. The NFTS and its sponsoring bodies together with the other organisations working with it have developed a set of standards to meet this need.
The NFTS will continue to respond to the needs and changing aspects of this vital aspect of our society and ensure that those who work within it or seek to work within it are provided with a comprehensive series of standards that will underpin competence, knowledge and professional development.
